East Side of the La Sal Mountains

My wife's family is really big into hunting.  They are so into hunting, that we had to reschedule our wedding a couple times to work around which hunt was happening where.

Anyway they come up from California every year to the East Side of the La Sal Mountains, Utah and Paradox, Colorado to hunt.  On Sunday they all get together, (from the various locations of where they are camped out to hunt) for a barbecue.  Since neither my wife nor I hunt we just go down for the barbecue to hang out with family get out in the fall weather and amazing landscape.

Back when my wife and I were still going to Brigham Young University, we made it down to the La Sals more frequently for the barbecue.  It has been a couple years since we have been to La Sal in the fall.  But this year we through together a quick little trip after we finished attending to BYU football game watching them beat Idaho St.  Down, spend the night, enjoy the day, and drive back.  I love it that Moab is so close.

You know what?

We just missed some great weather by two weeks for the Columbus Day Special.  We sure could have gotten a lot higher on the Mountain.

You don't need to hunt to enjoy some good times in the mountains with guns, booze and ridin' your thriller and forler. It's Utah tradition.
