Even with the start time change...
a few of us still made it out for the 2011 Cow Pie Crank. We didn't ride the whole 38 miles, but opted for the first third of the Crank riding up Sheepherders to Santaquin Canyon Meadow, up Santaquin Canyon road and down Stumpjumper. There was another group of ladies who headed out for the same route right after we finished.
The trail conditions were great and the air was much warmer than we expected. It seemed as though the Sheepherder Trail was caught in a large warm pocket of air. Jesse and I liken the Sheepherder Trail to the Mid-Mountain in Park City. We didn't see daylight until almost to the top of the Santaquin Canyon Road.
I didn't bring the helmet cam since we started during the dark and were riding with lights. Since most of my fall rides are done in the early morning hours before daylight I had no idea about all the fall leaves that had changed colors.
The real fun began on the Stumpjumper Downhill Trail.
Then I ran into the bear.
And we didn't even see any cows until the end of the ride.
Have you ever wondered how we came up with the name of the "Cow Pie Crank?"
Wonder no more, as you can see I managed ride right through a nice big cow pie right at the end of the ride.
12.8 miles at a relaxed pace with close to 2000 feet of climbing. Great Fall Ride.
