The Day Trip

I am a big fan of the day trip. Especially when a day trip is to go ride your mountain bike with friends in sunny 60F weather.

Rick, Miles, Dan Z. and I all left at the crack of dawn (6am) and were on our bikes at 10am in sunny San Jorge. I couldn't believe how good the sun felt.

Why is it that during the first few rides of the season you always overdress? The temperature could be the same in the Spring as it is in the Fall and you would overdress. Is it because we have been used to such cold weather and wearing more layers during the Winter? We all started off the day with arm warmers, vests, and knee warmers. It couldn't have been more than 10-15 minutes and we all were shedding the arm warmers, vests, and knee warmers. Yesterday was jersey and shorts weather.

I don't think I have ever ridden 32 miles of dirt in January before. I can only ask myself why I do not take more day trips to San Jorge in the Wintertime?

Barrel Roll - Rim Reaper, Rim Rock, Rim Runner, etc.

Green Valley, Three Fingers of Death, Clavicle Hill to Stucki Springs

Zen Trail

Great friends, great trails, great day.

Sure was a good day for my first ride on my Yeti 575. The Yeti sure can get down the hill quickly. I was amazed. I was very pleased with the ride of the bike. I still need to get some parts of the suspension dialed in to get the bike perfect. More on the bike later.

That's some good riding. I rode many of those trails yesterday. I like the Sidewinder out-n-back off of Precipice/Barrel Roll. And the upper Rim trails are pretty fun. Zen is good (even though I crashed). We finished off with Prospector and Church Rocks which were a blast.
