Thanksgiving

It was 22F at the start of today's Turkey Trot. Seems like the cold scared away a few people. Most people. Except for Aaron (www.shammytime.blogspot.com) and I.

Well you all missed out. Here we finally have good weather for Thanksgiving and you all missed out.

Climbing the road at first I started to wonder if I was over dressed. I soon realized I was dressed just right.

Aaron and I rode straight up to the altar, and paid our respects (catching our breath).

On to Francisco which was in excellent shape. We then decided to explore a little bit.

I was on my single speed so it was a little tough but we rode up the Great Western Trail from Francisco until I couldn't take anymore.

It is a really good/fun climb. Very scenic and rarely used. The decent was the most fun. It was a serpentine of single track goodness. I was surprised how long it took us to get down. We climbed much more than I realized.

Now I need to see where that trail ends up someday. But it still is worth the out and back.

We rocked the dry canyon descent and even had an audience while smoking the pipe. I usually don't do it, but with all these hikers around I quickly found myself ripping down the pipe. I had a close call a couple turns later. My brakes need some adjustment and they were almost gone. Not a good place to lose them as my speed was ramping up. I couldn't stop and ended up leaning way back over my seat while mowing over some large rocks. Luckily I pulled it off.

Great Turkey Trot ride. As we made it back to the parking lot some other riders were heading out.

Good start to Thanksgiving.

Thanks again to my Wife, Family, and Friends for such good times this year.

Nothing like a turkey-day morning ride to build up the appetite! Looks like everyone else missed out on the fun.
