The Sprint!

There is an enormous amount of power necessary to sprint on a bicycle. Look at Mario Cipollini in a spring finish. Mario had (and probably still has) some serious power on a bicycle. He still is one of my favorite all-time sprinters.

Or look at the power that Dave Zabriskie has in a Time Trial.

On the topic of "on the rivet," check out my little boy.

He just recently learned how to pedal his trike. This kid has untapped power.
Look at his burnout when accelerating his trike.

It is really cool to hear his tire scrape as he digs in his pedals and takes off at the fastest single speed cadence you have ever seen.
You never know maybe someday he will wear the Stars and Stripe Jersey.
For right now, I am happy with him wanting to "pedal" all the time.
Especially when I come home from work and he wants to "pedal" with me.

My boy Miles (3) has the same trike. He can't figure out how to make the bike move as he doesn't alternate pushing on the cranks with his legs. In other words, he pushes down on the cranks at the same time. I've wondered if it's the tiny little cranks on the bike ... sorry to hear that it's just my boy. He's about as smart as his daddy.

tp - I know what you mean. For months he has done the shuffle with his toes to move along even though he could reach the pedals. I even tried blocks on the pedals and that didn't work.

@tp - he'll get it. I didn't realize pedaling wasn't an instinct until all my kids needed to be taught.
